Couldn't Sleep
So I had some fun with AI
I stayed up til sometime after 5 AM on Monday morning to watch a football (NFL) game. That threw my entire sleep schedule out of whack so I ended up waking up at 1 AM this morning and my mind would not stop wandering. As it happens to the greatest minds, I came up with a brilliant idea at around 3 AM.
You know that cute little story I’ve been working on about A Dog and His Boy? Well, I thought, what if I turn that into a kids book with illustrations and sell it on Amazon or whatever? I’d be rich!
Okay, maybe not rich, but I have to think it would sell a copy or two.
Anyway, as I have zero talent at drawing I considered using AI to do that for me. I logged into my Canva account and got to work on making some magic!
A boy asking his parents for a puppy I typed when asked for a prompt.
Uhhh…
Okay, that’s clearly not gonna work. Maybe if I concentrate on the puppy and his mama part of the story.
Wait, what if I change the type of image?
Holy crapballs, not only not better, but arguably racist af.
I was about to give up but I thought, well, AI cannot possibly screw up “a boy meets his puppy” right?
Okay AI, these are adolrable.
Whew! Maybe there’s hope. My personal favorite is the little Asian boy with the pupperoni.
So, I think it’s safe to say that AI is not the way to go for my book illustrations. Fortunately, I know an artist. I’ll ask him. Worst he can say is no. He certainly cannot create the nightmares of AI.
