I’ve been very busy the last couple of weeks. The first book is up and for sale at Amazon (just in time for Christmas) and the second one is written.
Because I am not quite at a place where I can afford to hire an artist to create all of my images, I am absolutely taking advantage of AI. On the surface that sounds easy enough, right? “Hey AI, make me a watercolor image of an old man reading to his grandkids,” is probably all you think it takes.
But I like consistency. I like all of my characters to look the same throughout the book. I like the setting and color palette to feel seamless on every page. That means learning things I didn’t know two weeks ago.
Which is fine for a nerd like me, honestly.
I am loving how Abuelo is turning out.
But it has taken a minute or two days to get one character exactly where I want him.
Between you and me, I have loved the process.
So it’s a little time consuming, but in the long run it will make the following installments …
